Heidtman Steel Upgrading Cleveland
Pickling Facility
Toledo, OH — January 23, 2008. Heidtman Steel —
the largest privately owned flat-rolled steel service center
in the USA —has announced that they are adding in-line
tension leveling capability and a Parsytec™
continuous defect detection system to their existing
pickling line in Cleveland, Ohio. “Our pickle line will
house the third in-line tension leveler and the third
Parsytec™ unit within
the Heidtman group of facilities,” according to Greg Glenn,
eastern region vice president. “These systems enable
Heidtman to create dynamic and real-time solutions to
improve the quality of our products. Customers are demanding
superior flatness and improved surface quality, and we feel
that we can surpass their needs with these upgrades. With
the successful completion of a tension leveling system at
our Granite City location, we are looking to expand our
capabilities here, in Cleveland, and possibly at other
processing locations.”
Heidtman will be installing the Parsytec™
surface inspection system in July, and an in-line tension
leveler, with the capability of 5/16” x 72” maximum width @
50,000 K.S.I., targeted for installation late this year.
Heidtman’s three-year-old 270,000 sq. ft. Cleveland facility
is located at 4600 Heidtman Parkway, adjacent to the
Arcelor-Mittal steel mill, and is rail accessible.
